The capital of the Philippines, Manila’s tourism has been seeing quite a boom lately. And why not? The Filipino’s are one of the friendliest people on earth, getting around the city is easy as almost everyone speaks in English, and a ticket to the Philippines isn’t that costly after all.

Whether you’re in Manila for work or for pleasure, if you have a couple of days extra at hand and are looking to escape the city. Here are some wonderful destinations you can head to, just a road trip away.

1. Baguio

Get close to nature and enjoy the cold weather in Baguio. From famed strawberry farms to butterfly sanctuaries, museums, Churches, factory tours and so much more – this town has a lot to offer. Take a mini-retreat and stay in between all this nature at The Forest Lodge at Camp John Hay.

2. Baler

Baler has so much associated with the history of the Philippines. The town played a significant role in the Philippine Revolution against the Spaniards. So the next time you head to this town, make sure you visit the iconic Balete tree, Vicasarin Cove and some of the most beautiful natural waterfalls. 3. Batangas

Most people head to Palawan for their diving adventures, but if you can’t make it down south but are still itching to dive, then Batangas is the answer to your question. Anilao is also known as the diving spot in Luzon. After your learning escapades, make sure you reward yourself with a stay at Vivere Azure Resort before driving back to the main city.

4. Clark

You must have heard of Clark when you were booking your tickets to Manila. The other international airport is located in this town, but that’s not all they have. Clark is also the flying base of the Philippines. The yearly Hot Air Balloon Festival is held here but if you didn’t make it in time for that, don’t worry. There are flying schools in Clark that will give you a crash course on flying airplanes! If flying is not your thing, then you can just enjoy a luxurious stay at Widus Hotel & Casino.

5. La Union

La Union is known as the surfing capital of the Philippines and is a favourite amongst both locals and tourists. But surfing is not all that they have to offer - enjoy the art gallery, trek to tangadan falls, go bar crawling and feast your hearts out. 6. Subic

7. Tagaytay

Looking to escape the manila heat? Take a 2-hour drive to Tagaytay and enjoy the cold weather. Temperatures usually last from 10 – 28 °C. Other activities to enjoy in this area include horseback riding, zip lining, a picnic with the kids and more.
