Lotte Delima and I have known each other for over a decade now as she used to be a client of mine. She decided she was done with the corporate world and decided to take a leap of faith and pursue her interest in yoga and founded Yoga on the Roof.
She began teaching in 2018 and I have personally seen her growth in this space and decided to attend her Bali Zen Fusion yoga retreat in collaboration with Pascal and Marie Morabito who are the artists and brains behind Morabito Art Villa and Morabito Art Cliff.
We started our morning early as we visited Tirta Empul Holy Water Temple in Ubud which is considered to be Bali’s sacred water temple. The temple has several holy springs which are said to have been created by The God Indra and believed to be blessed water that could purify those who bathe there. This temple was really peaceful even though there were many visiting from near and far. Despite having been to Bali countless times, it was actually my first time participating in this cleansing ritual which was rather awakening and refreshing.
We then headed to a local cafe in Ubud for a delicious breakfast amongst the padi fields before indulging in a little shopping and exploring Ubud market.
We arrived at Morabito Art Cliff and were blown away by the shades of blue. It almost felt like we were in Santorini instead of Bali! Located at Bingin Beach, near Uluwatu, Morabito Art Cliff has a sunset bar and restaurant that is open to the public and is home to many fabulous parties and celebrations.
With 8 different lofts to choose from, all of us were way too excited to check into our suites which were just spectacular. Uniquely designed by Pascal Morabito, decorated with his art collection, featuring private pools or jacuzzis, this is one hotel in Bali that is unlike any others.
Lotte conducted a sunset and sunrise yoga which faced the expansive Indian Ocean, as we were guided through a series of gentle poses. With each breath, we let go of our stresses and were fully present in the moment, immersed in the beauty of nature unfolding right before us.
After our sunset flow yoga, we headed to Santorini which was perched on the cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean and had dinner and drinks. The restaurant serves Mediterranean flavours using locally sourced ingredients and we absolutely loved their wood fire pizzas paired with the local Balinese wines they have on their menu.
We woke up before sunrise for our morning yoga session, visited Bingin Beach before having breakfast and headed to Morabito Art Villa in Canggu.
Morabito Art Villa was the personal residence of Pascal and Marie Morabito when they first moved to Bali. It has now evolved into a daytime beachfront and poolside experience. Their beachfront restaurant is open daily to the public and the food was excellent. We tried almost every dish on the menu including their beetroot hummus, nasi goreng, fish tacos, sushi rolls and more.
Marie Morabito took us around the property as we explored the different suites and their extensive collection of art. Pascal Morabito has been an artistic visionary for more than 50 years and he is one serious art collector with an extensive collection of Papua Barat Art. From jewellery, to fragrances, and of course art and sculptures, he is a creative genius.
We then had an incredible pilates session as Lotte took us through a series of low-impact exercises to improve strength, flexibility, balance and posture. It was an incredible experience as we were by the beach as the sun went down.
We glammed up for dinner and Morabito’s infamous party. Known for one of the best parties in Canggu, Morabito’s signature Friday nights did not disappoint. The music was a vibe and we ran into familiar faces from Singapore and Jakarta.
To commemorate our last evening together, we had a beautiful dinner and bonfire experience as we reflected on the last few days, where we met new individuals, supported each other through new experiences while letting go of anything that did not serve us.
