With 9 different types of suites and villas to choose from, The Slate Phuket is able to accommodate couples looking for a getaway or families looking for a much needed vacation. We were very fortunate to stay at The Slate Phuket’s Private Pool Suite as this resort in Phuket was almost at full capacity.
Perfect for couples, we loved how spacious our Private Pool Suite was as it opened up to luscious greenery, with a sexy oversized outdoor bathtub, plunge pool and Punkawallah-style fans on the ceiling. We truly adored the attention to details of each and every design element in the suite. From custom bath amenities, bathrobes and slippers, fluffy towels, an Espresso Machine, a fully-stocked mini bar, it is safe to conclude that the Private Pool Suite has pretty much everything you need.
Dining at The Slate
With 13 different dining concepts to choose from, The Slate Phuket is able to accommodate most travellers including those wanting private dining experiences to create memories. We woke up to a buffet breakfast spread at Tin Mine with local and international options that fueled our day.
A must-indulge is The Slate Phuket’s Legendary Brunch. Hosted at Rivet, sip on free-flowing wine and champagne from 12pm - 3pm. Start with their fresh seafood on ice, Japanese sushi and sashimi, before working your way through their live bbq station that has lobsters, red tiger prawns, wagyu rump, foie gras, scallops and more delicacies including desserts.
Black Ginger at The Slate Phuket is a modern Thai restaurant certified by Michelin Guide 2021 and 2022 that did not disappoint. We absolutely understand why it is booked weeks in advance by both locals and tourists visiting Phuket.
Our absolute favourite dish was their Gaeng Pou Bai Cha-Plu which is a crab meat curry made with fragrant cha-plu leaf accompanied with rice noodles. Although it was spicy and our mouths were on fire, we could not resist going back for more. Signature dishes include Poh Piah Sod Phuket, Bua Tod (crispy cha-plu leaf in turmeric batter served with prawn), Gian Thod (Traditional Phuket crunchy sausage stuffed with pork, prawn and crab meat with jicama root vegetable), Gaeng Lueang Pla Gao (Southern style spicy yellow fish curry served with garden vegetable) and the list goes on. Do not skip their dessert, as they are a unique twist of flavours that will surprise you.
The dishes at Black Ginger are a true testament to Chef Piak’s pride in preparing traditional recipes that burst with complex flavours, made with the freshest local ingredients, leaving you wanting more. My biggest regret was not dining at Black Ginger daily which definitely requires a trip back just to feast on traditional Southern Thai cuisine.
