Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill Opens at Sunway Resort in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The first Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill outside the United Kingdom opens at Sunway Resorts in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, making it the iconic British Chef’s inaugural restaurant in Malaysia. A Kuala Lumpur icon for 25 years, Sunway Resort is delighted to reveal the result of a once-in-a-generation US$60 million transformation that has positioned Sunway City Kuala Lumpur as Asia's leading fully-integrated premier hospitality and entertainment destination.
The restaurant blends Gordon Ramsay’s British heritage with the grace and grandeur of Sunway Resort. A series of luxurious and intimate spaces include a trio of private dining rooms – 8 Mayfair, 10 Soho and 12 Chelsea, a grand dining room with semi-private seating booths and a glittering cocktail bar with floor-to-ceiling windows, seating up to a total of 150 guests at a time. Book the 12 Chelsea private room if you are a group of 10 - 12 as you get to watch the kitchen team live in action, which should be rather entertaining. Another interesting fact to note is that the kitchen team uses a Josper Basque Grill, and it has been said to be the only 2 in all of Malaysia.
The interior design features robust furnishings with a rich red and forest green colour scheme accentuated by polished walnut hardwood flooring, brass finishes, 24 karat gold leaf hand-placed ceiling and more. Monochrome portraits of British style icons by celebrated photographers Terry O’Neill and Arthur Steel feature The Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger, the original 007 Sir Sean Connery, supermodels Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy, line the walls of the main dining room.
Featuring an exquisite menu inspired by one of London’s most iconic restaurants, Savoy Grill, showcasing only the finest ingredients presented with culinary flair from the highly skilled, Gordon Ramsay-trained team.
We began our lunch tasting starting with a fresh basket of bread served with smoked marrow butter, which was hard to resist. Then came the Instagram-worthy ‘Seafood Tower’ which had a tin of Caviar, Fresh Oysters, Boston Lobsters, Scallop Ceviche, King Crab Legs, Prawns, and Citrus-Cured Salmon. A must-order to share is the ‘Arnold Bennett Twice-Baked Cheese Soufflé with Mornay Sauce’ that was so soft, and savoury. A dish that is rather hard to replicate. We were all surprised at how much we indulged effortlessly as each mouth was creamy and flavourful. Another highlight was the ‘Dover Sole with Grenobloise capers sauce’. We thought we were pretty much full but bites after bites - we simply could not stop.
More importantly, diners can look forward to savouring prime cuts of meat dry-aged in-house and Chef Ramsay’s most desirable dishes, such as his ‘Classic Beef Wellington’, served tableside with Pomme Purée, Red Wine Jus and Fine Salad. Another masterpiece that takes a skilled Chef to make, this Gordon-approved Beef Wellington is an absolute showstopper. Beef Wellington as it is, is uncommon in Malaysia, making this another dish that is worth the trip or stay at Sunway Resort.
Do not even think of skipping the ‘64% Manjari Chocolate Tart’. As one who always skips dessert, I cleaned out my plate. Personally, the pairing of Manjari Chocolate, with honeycomb and yoghurt sorbet did the trick for me.
For guests looking to wind down in the evenings, take a seat at our bar and sip on concoctions from a masterly crafted menu of classic favourites, cocktails with Malaysian-inspired flavours and a host of premium wines and spirits.
Adjacent to the cocktail bar, a dedicated wine cellar showcases an extensive global wine list for wine enthusiasts and a private room welcomes intimate evenings for tastings, social gatherings and more.
Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill at Sunway Resort joins the brand’s three existing locations in London’s Mayfair, Chelsea and Park Walk. It also becomes part of the expanding network of Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, one of the United Kingdom’s largest privately-owned restaurant groups with more than 35 locations worldwide and a total of seven Michelin stars.
Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill will open for lunch from 12pm - 3pm, dinner from 5pm to 10.30pm. Sunday Roast starts from 12pm - 3pm. Reservations can be made here.
