There’s comfort food and then there’s Mexican grub. Sumptuous, soul-satisfying fare that comes with pitchers of Margaritas – there’s no wonder we crave Mexican food all the time!
We've put together a list of the best Mexican restaurants in Singapore to make that weekday or weekend, indulgence easier. From Mexican street food to Mexican fine dining, we’ve got you covered.
Papi’s Tacos - A cosy Taqueria
Nestled in the heart of Seah Street, lies the vibrant Mexican restaurant Papi’s Tacos serving up some authentic and delicious Mexican food. Papi’s Tacos is helmed by Executive Chef and partner, Mauricio ‘Papi’ Espinoza, who incorporates the authentic recipes from his hometown in Mexico. The Mexican restaurant, with its narrow and limited seating area, is reminiscent of Mexico’s taco trucks and back-alley Esque eateries.
Papi combines elements of his extensive international culinary experience, with an easy-going deposition in the open show kitchen to create a casual and lively dining atmosphere for customers. A must-try at Papi's Tacos is their signature dish, Tacos de Pescado (Fish Tacos) prepared with house-made corn tortillas and topped with a spicy Chipotle Aioli and refreshing seasonal red cabbage. Other favourites at Papi’s include, the Tacos de Asada, marinated steak on corn tortillas as well as Burrito de Carnitas.
No Mexican food is complete without drinks, of course. At Papi's a selection of curated tequilas, margaritas, a signature house beer and a simple wine selection are concocted, by veteran drink connoisseur Steve Schneider. He incorporates Mexican culture found predominantly in Papi’s style of cooking into his drinks – using a blend of artisanal spirits, organic agave nectar and high-quality fresh ingredients.
Kick back after work at Papi's with a margarita, while relaxing to Papi’s Tacos’ curated Spanish music featuring Mexican folk, alt-rock, old school hip hop, and ’50s rock tunes all day long.
