The Ritz-Carlton Langkawi: A Luxury Escape Nestled in Nature
Nestled between a 10-million-year-old rainforest overlooking the clear-blue Andaman Sea, The Ritz-Carlton Langkawi is a sanctuary where luxury and nature intersect.
Langkawi is an archipelago of 104 islands off mainland Malaysia with direct flights available from Malaysia and even Singapore on selected days.
With Langkawi’s only overwater spa, 3 swimming pools, 4 dining concepts, a private beach and bay with direct access to the region’s renowned diving sites, this 5-star resort has 90 gorgeous rooms and 29 villas for friends, families and couples looking for a mix of adventure and relaxation.
Ocean Front Villas at The Ritz-Carlton Langkawi
Boasting over 1,000 square feet of space, the Ocean Front Villas allow expansive views of the Andaman Sea, with multi-level sundecks, pavilion and private pool evoking tranquil luxury and sun-soaked days.
Decked with Malaysian-inspired furnishings and accents, The Ritz-Carlton signature lines and featherbeds, and Diptyque amenities, we never wanted to leave our Ocean Front Villas. At night, witness local fishermen at work as they light up the sea.
Families can consider the extravagant two-bedroom Villa Kenari or three-bedroom Villa Mutiara, which sleeps 6 and 9 guests respectively. Villa Kenari hosts the resort’s largest private pool, while Villa Mutiara has two pools with a private beach.
Overwater Spa with Luxurious Rituals of Malaysia
With 6 stunning Overwater Spa Pavillions at The Ritz-Carlton Langkawi, guests are pampered with both face and body services, including healing and beauty rituals from Malaysia’s Shamans and Midwives.
One such treatment is the Mandi Bunga, a purifying and restorative full body experience which originates from Malay Royal houses performed to dispel bad energy. Harnessing the benefits of traditional herbs rich in essential oils and therapeutic flowers to bring about a sense of calm and relaxation.
Warm aromatic oils are gently poured over the body and combined with a rhythmical massage which incorporates long warming strokes to soothe tense, aching muscles, rebalance body and mind and bring about an overall sense of well being.
The spa also offers a spacious deck and the island’s only Hammam. Lulur is a Javanese word for “coating of the skin”. This centuries-old treatment was performed in the Palaces of Central Java.
Completed in a gentle steam environment, this traditional ritual deeply cleanses and regenerates skin, while the full body foam massage and nourishing marine mud maintain healthy skin and well being. This ancient Lulur Hammam therapy finishes with a refreshing and a deeply relaxing scalp treatment designed to melt your stresses away.
Sustainable Dining
The resort is home to 4 distinct dining concepts. Langkawi Kitchen embraces the diversity of local culinary offerings such as Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisines prepared in open kitchens with live cooking stations.
The Beach Grill borrows design elements from Malaysia’s traditional twig constructed fish traps. This beachfront restaurant serves fresh seafood, international dishes, cocktails and fine wines.
Perfect for sunset cocktails and bites, Horizon is an adults-only lounge with a swimming pool Ideal for a romantic date or a great time with friends. Bask under the sun, take stunning sunset photos or simply unwind gazing at the starlit skies.
In line with Marriott International’s green efforts, all four outlets use home-grown herbs and vegetables from their very own Nibong Garden, which was created by the team during the pandemic. From the butterfly pea flower used in garnishes, to the bird’s eye chilli used in the Green Egg (Malay & Western cuisine) or Outdoor Cooking (Malay cuisine) experiences, the produce is grown within the resort, cooked and plated with care.
Hai Yan, Langkawi’s only Fine Dining Chinese Restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton Langkawi
Perched at the water’s edge, Hai Yan allows guests to pair their dining experience with breathtaking 180° views of the Andaman Sea. Specialising in live seafood, the restaurant boasts three large aquariums teeming with lobsters, prawns, giant crabs, and a myriad of fish for diners to choose from, including the prized Empurau fish, Malaysia’s most expensive fish.
Hai Yan’s menu also features a generous selection of traditional and modern Chinese delicacies, such as handcrafted Dim Sum or the crowd-pleasing roast duck. They are prepared based on time honoured recipes with a contemporary twist. The culinary team supports local farmers, by sourcing ingredients for famous dishes such as Hai Yan’s Peking Duck, from a duck farm in Perak, as well as working with local Langkawian fishermen for the freshest catch.
Green Activities for Kids and Adults
This luxury resort in Langkawi provides a fun and educational experience for everyone.
Ritz Kids has an array of art and craft activities curated by the in-house recreation team but what is more interesting is visiting the Sea Cucumber nursery with their in-house Marine Biologist.
Join him for a hands-on experience to learn more about Sea Cucumber and its role in the underwater ecosystem. Kids can also walk through the resort’s Butterfly Garden to know more about the different types of butterflies fluttering around the resort and even plant a tree!
Adults can go on a nature hike through the luscious rainforest, paddle board, kayak, play tennis or join their sunrise or sunset yoga classes.
Be sure to make a wish at The Walkway of Wishes, which is a natural pond inspired by the island’s mystical granter of wishes, Tasik Dayang Bunting - The Lake of the Pregnant Maiden.
