What sets it apart from the line-up of 5-star resorts in Danang? All things wellness!
Read on for our review of this majestic beach resort in Vietnam. From authentic and fresh Vietnamese cuisine to all things relaxation, here’s a look at why the Danang Marriott Resort & Spa should be your next travel destination.
Danang Marriott Resort & Spa
A short 20-minute ride from the airport brings you to the Danang Marriott Resort & Spa where traditional Cham architecture and French-Indochine influences, create a unique facade. First impressions? A resort that is huge by most standards and speckled with Vietnamese detail, all while maintaining the Marriott brand seamlessly. The lobby overlooks the gardens, and five pools, as well as the stunning Non-Nuoc Beach, a destination often lauded as one of the world's most exquisite coastal locations.
With over 200 spacious rooms and suites, the Danang Marriott Resort & Spa comes dressed in Indochine architecture, adorned with contemporary interiors, wooden floors and furnishings. There are also 39, 3-and-4-bedroom villas for larger families that provide plenty of space to unwind together, private pools included!
Our Executive Ocean Suite boasted a generous, separate living area, a kitchenette, a lavish bedroom(super-king bed), a gorgeous bathroom with a standalone bath, and 2 small patios. That’s not all! Luxury toiletries, a Nespresso machine, two televisions, and a handy desk and dining area, make it the ideal suite to work or relax. Did we mention the 360-degree ocean views? Press on your automated curtain opener, to reveal the stunning landscape and beach, all a few steps away from your room.
The Quan Spa
If there’s only one reason to head to the Danang Marriott, it is the exquisite Quan Spa. Designed in luxurious splendour, the spa features a beauty salon, separate steam, sauna and Jacuzzi for male and female guests, a foot massage area, a Himalayan salt room and 12 treatment rooms.
While the menu offerings include Quan Spa’s signature treatments as well as facials and foot reflexology, you can also ask your therapist to recommend something based on your body and its needs. In our case, this was a Warm Bamboo Massage, using traditional techniques and warm bamboo sticks to roll out tension spots. Part of their Local Indulgences series, the deep but soothing massage helps to release knots and relax tense muscles through the use of long strokes via warm bamboo stalks and aromatherapy massage oil. It includes a foot soak, massage and scalp massage, programmed to destress and rejuvenate your body and mind. Needless to say, we will be returning for more!
For extra indulgence, reserve the resort’s signature four-hand massage, performed by two therapists working together in a unique blend of five different massage styles –Shiatsu, Thai, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Swedish and Balinese for 120 mins. Or for something celestial, try the Halotherapy in the unique Himalayan salt room.
Food at Danang Marriott Resort & Spa
The food in Vietnam was designed to delight and the Danang Marriott delivers on that promise. Whether it's savouring delectable breakfast buffet options, exploring signature Vietnamese dishes or enjoying a fresh grill by the beach, there’s ample here to keep all appetites and hearts full.
Begin each day with a sumptuous breakfast buffet that lines up the best of international cuisines for every type of customer. You will find plenty of Asian delights, including South-Asian and Indian options as well as made-to-order eggs. Pancakes, waffles, an ice-cream bar, ample pastries(gluten-free too) and fruits will keep the little ones happy.
Our favourite? The freshly prepared mini-Bánh Mì's that are sent straight to your table. Team these with authentic Vietnamese Coffee and it’s a start you will want for every day!
Madame Son, their Vietnamese Restaurant is resplendent with lanterns and delectable bites. Madame Son showcases authentic Vietnamese and fusion cuisine by utilising garden-fresh ingredients and embracing the essence of Vietnam. We highly recommend trying their Coco Delights Menu, which is dedicated to the 1114 Coconut trees on the resort grounds. A menu that uses coconut in different formats, the 5-course meal comes with a crunchy Vietnamese Taco, Danang Mackaerle with Salmon Caviar, a deliciously creamy Tomato and Coconut Soup, their best-loved Wagyu Beef Cheek braised in Coconut juice and an exotic Garden-themed Coconut dessert. A perfect journey into the local cuisine with nuances that will tantalise and surprise!
Don’t forget to venture further and enjoy your time at Non Nuoc Bar. The resort’s pool bar overlooks the stunning beach and ocean and is the ultimate setting for sipping cocktails and enjoying light bites. You will want to get their Chill & Grill set, a platter for 2 that includes a variety of seafood and vegetables grilled to perfection along with 2 draught beers.
Overall, we found the food at the hotel to be exceptionally fresh and value for the dollar - each dish was prepared to our personal taste and with the right amount of flavouring. New to Vietnamese food? Ask the staff for recommendations of local delicacies that are a must-try!
Things to Do, Places to See
Let’s just say, you won’t be left wanting of things to do at the Danang Marriott Resort & Spa. If the 5 swimming pools and stunning beach views don’t keep you busy, the spa, tennis courts, gym and cooking lessons will.
The Danang Marriott Resort & Spa, located on the sandy area of Non-Nuoc Beach, is right opposite the famous Marble Mountains and their ancient caves and Buddhist sanctuaries. Less than 20 minutes away by car is the ancient town of Hoi An, a must-visit for anyone.
A World Heritage Site, Hoi An’s ancient town was a trading port from the 15th - 19th century. Today, it stands strong with its old canals and alleyways filled with colourful lanterns, a welcoming site for historians and Instagrammers alike. There is a ticket to enter the town, but you will get access to some of the key historical points, such as the Japanese Bridge, Tan Ky House, and Phuc Kien Assembly Hall.
Danang Marriott Resort & Spa - Tips and Tricks
Whether it is your first time here or you are back for a repeat visit, the staff at Danang Marriott Resort & Spa will ensure you have a wonderful stay. But, if you would like a few tips on making the most of your holiday, here are a few pointers that can help!
- Rooms and Villas: While the Executive Ocean Suites are spacious and the ultimate indulgence, the other room formats are equally large. Request for a room close to the beach, and you will have easy access to both the ocean and the hotel's several large pools. If you are travelling with family or are a larger group, the huge villas at the resort may be more suitable. Each bedroom is large in size as is the lounge area that overlooks your own private pool. A private kitchenette, functional living and dining areas and ample bathrooms, make this a great option to unwind with the fam-jam.
- Kids Club and babysitting: Those travelling with children will be delighted to learn that the resort also caters to little guests. An infant pool, outdoor playground and kids' meals will keep them occupied as will the massive Kids Club where a world of creative activities awaits. From art and bubbles to ball houses, and slides, this dedicated space also offers babysitting services and is open till 9 p.m. every day.
- Cooking lessons: We highly recommend taking a cooking class with the chef at Madame Son and learning to make fresh Vietnamese rolls. Filled to the brim with crunchy ingredients, these rolls can be prepared at any time - and savoured as a snack or part of your main course. Plus it’ll keep the guests gushing!
- Spa: If you have already booked your hotel room elsewhere, or are staying in Hoi An, a trip to the Quan Spa is still warranted. A luxurious escape from all things ordinary, this is a spa treatment you will remember for some time to come.
- Hoi An: For more ideas on what to do in Hoi An, speak to the hotel concierge for a dedicated tour. Our tour guide Rin was informative and passionate about the history of Vietnam and its various provinces. The tour took us to several important sights within Hoi An as well as a silk factory to watch worms bring these threads to life! You can also refer to Vietnam Travel for more Hoi An itineraries.
- Service: Nothing is too much trouble here. From making your coffee as you desire to finding the right ingredients, or introducing Vietnam and its culture to the guests, the service at the resort is top-notch and always smiling. We urge you to chat with the local staff and learn about their way of life. There is truly nothing like Vietnam!
