Roia – Date Night in the Singapore Botanic Gardens
Located within the Botanic Gardens and surrounded by lush greenery, Roia is a modern-French restaurant noted on the Michelin Guide. In its place at the historic EJH Corner House, it has an old-world charm and colour that makes it feel like a getaway from the city– perfect for a romantic evening to yourselves. The restaurant is headed by Chef Priyam Chatterjee, recipient of the Chevalier de l'Ordre du Mérite Agricole, a French knighthood that recognises contributions to French gastronomy and agriculture.
The menu consists of six or eight-course meals that pay tribute to the natural beauty of the Botanic Gardens and the diversity of local heritage. Each course is artfully designed and inspired by Chef Priyam’s brush with local cultures and the history of Corner House: of the amuse bouche trio that begins the meal, the Roia Toast is notable, a crispy, delicate crystal toast with a hint of curry. Corner’s Flowers, one of the main courses, comprises Japanese Ginpo fish, smoked almond, beetroot and yuzu calamansi sauce.

The Summerhouse – Romantic Restaurant With Flower-Filled Outdoor Garden Domes
Far from the city at Seletar Aerospace Park, The Summerhouse offers romantic, private outdoor dining under transparent Garden Domes, surrounded by flowers and forestry and dotted with fairy lights for a whimsical, Bohemian-style experience. As a multi-concept farm-to-table lifestyle destination, dishes at this restaurant make the most of fresh, local produce.
Choose from the Garden Menu or Prestige Menu, both with five courses and a slight Italian influence: on the Garden Menu, the likes of burratina with sour plum marinated cherry tomatoes and olive oil caviar and pan-seared Atlantic cod with saffron sauce wow with their gentle, clean flavours, and a house-made cannoli with Buffalo ricotta, dried mango, and raspberry sorbet provides a refreshing finish. On the Prestige Menu, luxurious courses of flying fish roe with edible flowers, Inka Grilled Wagyu Tenderloin with wild mushroom and truffle beef jus, and orange tiramisu await.

Fico – A Classic Italian Masseria For Date Night
Fico, an Italian restaurant situated along the coast at East Coast Park, is styled after a Puglian masseria, and its breezy, relaxed atmosphere is perfect for a romantic afternoon or evening– its expansive outdoor dining space, in cosy light wood, is framed with white cloth for added Mediterranean flair against the backdrop of the sea. Serving up authentic Italian classics– many ingredients like seafood, cheese and olive oil are sourced and imported directly from Puglia– Italian wines, expertly crafted pastas and rustic desserts, Fico is a much sought-after venue for friends, family, couples, and pretty much everyone.
The menu at Fico is seasonal, and features a revolving list of Italian comforts: the “foccaccina”, a hybrid between foccacia and pizza, is made for sharing, and comes in varieties like San Marzano tomatoes (with Bufala mozzarella and basil) and Red Onions of Acquaviva (with goat milk blue cheese, fior di latte, fried sage, and sulla honey). The pastas are hand-made from Apulian grains: have a classic Cacio e Pepe, served for two from a Pecorino wheel, or an Orecchiette with cime di rapa, anchovies, tomatoes and extra-virgin olive oil. Lastly, the dessert, served from a trolley, is worth keeping room for: the Burrata Gelato with strawberry and tomato jam is sweet, savoury and fun.

SUSHISAMBA – Romantic Restaurant With Panoramic City Views
SUSHISAMBA has been the talk of the town since it opened at the top of Capital Tower, and for good reason: it’s got a unique Japanese/South American dining concept, a neon-lit, romantic atmosphere, and sweeping views of Singapore’s skyline from above. Seamlessly blending the dynamic designs and culinary influences of Japan, Brazil and Peru, SUSHISAMBA offers sushi, seviches, anticuchos and more from its open kitchen and robata grill, in conceptual small plates for an experimental, shared dining experience.
For a sampling of SUSHISAMBA’s best, start with a set of crispy taquitos, which come in pairs: the lobster with Japanese tartar and yuzu gel, coriander and avocado, alongside the yellowtail with avocado, white miso, coriander and lime, are good options. As you can tell, seafood is this restaurant’s strong suit: we can never recommend the hamachi tiradito with truffle soy, caviar and black truffle enough. The Chilean Sea Bass anticuchos with white miso and chives is worth an order, as are the restaurant’s signature SAMBAROLLS: with Maine lobster, mango, avocado, soy paper and aji honey truffle. Stay a little longer or pop upstairs to SAMBAROOM where the night heats up: lounge with street culture-inspired crafted cocktails and celebrate with Samba dancers on Saturdays.

Ce Soir – Floral-Themed Romantic Restaurant in an Intimate Setting
Ce Soir is an intimate French-Asian restaurant with an impossibly romantic floral theme, tucked away on Portsdown Road in a black-and-white colonial bungalow. The interior of the restaurant is decked out with flowers, in muted tones for a gentle luxury.
The menu at Ce Soir is minimal, but combines pure ingredients and uses simple recipes for a unique culinary experience. Start with the Obsiblue Prawn with corn, ikura and yellow wine, and the Toothfish with black garlic, tosazu sauce, and spinach. Main courses include the Magret de Canard, a French classic, given an Asian twist with eggplant dengaku, fermented blueberries and cashew, or the Kagoshima A4 Wagyu with myoga, pomegranate and pumpkin. Dessert at this restaurant is particularly visually and texturally stunning: yuzu, lemongrass jello, almond and passionfruit form a refreshing end to the meal.

Firangi Superstar – A Foreigner’s Love Letter To Old-World India
We’ll never get enough of the vibrancy and complexity of Indian cuisine– and so do Rohit Roopchand and Michael Goodman, the firangi behind Firangi Superstar. This cinematic, old-world-inspired restaurant is a foreigner’s love letter to the Indian subcontinent– from vintage train-car themed private dining rooms to military salons, luscious animal-printed walls and plush furniture, everything here is designed to take you back in time. Not only is the decor impressive, the food is too– head chef Thinu Gunasakaran, formerly of Spago by Wolfgang Puck, has reinterpreted Indian classics, as the restaurant has reimagined Indian-style design, into playful, modern fare.
The menu is divided between small plates and large plates, to sample and share to your heart’s content: the cheekily named “This is Also Not Aloo Gobi” combines Romanesco cauliflower, spiced potato foam, and a cashew-raisin vinaigrette into something familiar, but distinct. The “Beirut Bhatura Part Trois”, with fava bean hummus, Mysore mutton, and mini bhatura is also a standout: the fried bread is perfectly soft and fluffy. From the large plates, try the “Bengal Bake-Off”, salt-baked seabass topped with kasundi cream and banana leaf oil, or “Back in the Saddle”, tandoori spiced lamb with aromatic confit garlic and curry leaves. Finish with a Rhum Baba Jamun– a tropical twist on the classic rum-soaked cake, for a little decadence. It’s notable that all food menu items can be made vegetarian on request.

Baia – A Romantic Restaurant Overlooking Singapore’s Marina Bay

Named for an ancient Roman resort city, this relaxed, Mediterranean-inspired venue, with its elegant Romanesque arches and warm interior, promises a celebratory evening: with DJ performances every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
From the “Petite Pleasures” menu, begin with appetisers like the Whipped Burrata, Honey and Chili Citronette, or the Avocado Hummus and Black Truffle Dukkah, or a dish of Hyogo Japanese oysters from the raw bar. Of course, there is a pizza menu, with varieties ranging from classic to exotic: a “Mozzarella, Parmigiano, San Marzano, and Chili and Basil Salmoriglio”, or a “Baerii Caviar, Fiordilatte and Whipped Colatura”. Desserts are on the traditional side, but equally delightful: profiteroles, for instance, with hazelnut chantilly and chocolate fondue. At Baia, it’s the drinks that steal the show: there are three cocktail menus, “Sol”, “Nox” and “Mosaics”, representing three facets of Roman heritage and three categories of drinks. The “Sol” menu is radiant and refreshing, the “Nox” menu is rich and heavy, and the “Mosaics” menu are quick-serving and shareable.

Dimple – An Intimate, Romantic Cocktail Bar Inspired by Hong Kong
This hidden bar on Purvis Street, right outside the Hotel NuVe Heritage, pays homage to the brilliance and vibrancy of Hong Kong’s culture, with carefully crafted drinks in an intimate atmosphere. Dimple’s cocktail menu is formed around the Chinese principles of love, abundance and harmony, as well as the symbolic fruits used in each drink: for instance, the lychee represents love in Chinese cultures, and is thus incorporated into a light, fruity, romantic drink. The drinks are categorised by strength, so you can work your way up the menu over conversation.
Each drink is an experience in itself: from the fluffy Passionfruit Martini, tangy and cheerful with passionfruit-infused dry sake citrus and topped with playful foam, to the Mango Spicy Margarita, which is served with a tiny cup of house-made mango and lime sorbet to temper the bird’s eye chili– every cocktail is made with a craftsman’s dedication. For a start, try the savoury, complex Tomato Caprese: with St. Germain elderflower, clarified tomato, basil, citrus, tellicherry pepper and topped with vegan foam. The elegant Apple Saketini, in a tall, fluted glass, is also worth a try: crisp and refreshing with fuji apple, red date, dry sake and lemon oleo saccharum.

Cygnet – For An Upbeat Date Night in a New York-Inspired Space
Housed in QT Singapore, Cygnet by Sean Connolly is a little slice of Manhattan in the heart of Singapore: with a bustling restaurant floor, open kitchen, and black-and-gold accents, this restaurant is a little overwhelming, a little decadent, and resplendent in its Deco-New York charm. It’s an experience, but it’s not too distracting for a romantic evening– you could always retreat to Cygnet’s bar, an elegant, glowing space where steely design gives way to a warm wooden countertop and rattan chairs.
Expect an extravagant menu and tableside service with all the showmanship of a classic New York steakhouse: table-side steak tartare and table-side Caesar salad are among the restaurant’s entrees, alongside seafood platters for two (or more) heavy with oysters, prawns and lobster rolls. Devilled eggs, served individually in quirky egg cups with webbed feet, add a whimsical touch. Among the mains, choose a steakhouse staple, the steak frites with peppercorn sauce, or a Lobster frites, half Boston, with garlic butter. Desserts at Cygnet are on the heavier end, rich and creamy and larger than life: like the New York cheesecake with raspberry and lime, Strawberry Romanoff with brandy yoghurt gelato, and Chocolate Fondant with maraschino cherries.

Jaan by Kirk Westaway – Towering Romantic Restaurant Serving Up British Classics
This restaurant has two Michelin stars, sits on the highest floor of the iconic Swissotel the Stamford, and offers a unique dining experience– Jaan, headed by Executive Chef Kirk Westaway, reimagines and redefines modern British cuisine. It’s not often you hear “British” and “fine dining” in the same sentence, but this restaurant pulls it off– Chef Kirk grew up along the beach in Devon, home to rolling hills, fresh seafood, cream tea and ocean air, and has distilled the humble elegance of extraordinary produce into Jaan’s award-winning menu.
The restaurant’s lunch and dinner menus are available in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions. On the Dinner menu, hearty British classics like Onion Cracker, Fish & Chips and Leek & Potato Soup star alongside dishes that showcase quality produce: the simple but luxurious Hen’s Egg, unveiled from a massive egg-shaped sculpture with smoke billowing out the sides and topped with caviar, and the Wild Seabass, gently cooked and enhanced with lemon butter broth. Hand-Dived Scallop and Kagoshima Wagyu complete the journey, followed by simply-named desserts of “Sweet Chestnut” or “Chocolate”.

NOX – A Fun, Unique, and Romantic Culinary Experience in Singapore
It sounds a little novel, but it’s worth a try– at NOX, twelve mystery dishes in a three-course menu, refreshed seasonally to keep the intrigue alive, are served in the dark to diners, who’ll have to rely on their senses of taste and smell to form impressions. It’s a unique dining concept, for sure, and one to bond over.
You’ll begin at a fully-lit bar, where amuse-bouche are served alongside curated cocktails like the Breakfast for Champions, a coffee cocktail reminiscent of the Espresso Martini, and then make your way upstairs to a completely darkened dining room where your mystery menu is served. There is a sample menu available, though it won’t be the one you’ll get: sample dishes are Modern-European, and include Aromatic Onion and Leek Soup with Gruyere and Croutons, Ethically Sourced Pan Seared Foie Gras with Fig Puree and Gorgonzola Sauce, and French Sea Bass En Papillote with Leeks, Shallots, and a White Wine Sauce. Le Pristine’s signature main, the seafood orecchiette, is topped with mussel, squid and langoustine and presented in a savoury, nduja-infused broth. For dessert, we recommend the Tiramisu Collapsed, a melting hill of chewy mascarpone and chocolate, as well as the regionally-influenced Panna Cotta with fresh soymilk, pandan and passion fruit. Brasserie Astoria – A Romantic Restaurant With The Old-World Charm Of Victoria Concert Hall
Brasserie Astoria is a restaurant tucked away in the historic Victoria Concert Hall, surrounded by grand pillars and high ceilings and evoking glamorous, European retro– in particular the classic Parisian brasserie. Being a counterpart of the original Brasserie Astoria in Stockholm, the menu is Nordic-influenced and Modern-European, featuring northern favourites like the Swedish potato cake råraka, topped with crème fraîche and Vendace roe from Bottenviken, alongside crowd-pleasers like Iberico baby back ribs. Similarly to the original restaurant, hosted in the elegant Astoria Cinema which dates to the 1920s, Singapore’s own Brasserie Astoria pays homage to a bygone era of showmanship and excess. Tables are divided and draped with curtains for extra privacy and warmth. Check out the bar in the center of the restaurant, with its golden glow and relaxed, half-moon seating.
This restaurant’s signature Toast Astoria is a must-try: it’s an elevated smørrebrød featuring coldwater shrimp, Japanese snow crab, shoyu brined trout roe, wasabi aioli and pickled red onions atop luxuriously fried toast in butter. Several dishes are prepared tableside, like the Steak tartare à la parisienne and Caesar salad. After a soft-serve dessert, pick a petit four from a trolley: classic canelés, macarons, chocolate truffles, and chocolate chip cookies with fleur de sel.
